A Note from the President of Our CooperativeGoing back to the beginning of the gallery, the founding members shared a vision of connecting the community through art. Though this year has forced a degree of physical separation upon us, it has also given us the opportunity to appreciate the importance of the artistic threads in the fabric of our community. For our artists, connecting with the staff while dropping off work has been reassuring. Our customers have been so appreciative of the gallery this year as it reminds them that there is still beauty and creativity in the world.
The launching of our Online Store has not only strengthened our connections with local people, but it has even reconnected us with past customers who had moved out of the area. And the challenges of this year have encouraged us to look at ourselves, to look at the ways in which we could do a better job of connecting with all members of the community. Our Art of Resilience show brought new artists and customers into our gallery. As the days begin to lengthen, we look forward to emerging from this dark time with a stronger sense of purpose. May we carry with us the lessons we have learned during this year, and remember to always cherish the narratives and connections we create through our art. 10 Fantastic Artists have joined us this holiday season! These artists are only available in our brick and mortar gallery; they will not be available online this season. Drop in for a shopping visit soon; we are open our regular hours (11-6 M-Sat, 12-5 Sun) but are limited to 6 shoppers at a time. Everyone must wear face coverings and practice social distancing at all times. We look forward to seeing you! Handpainted Silk Scarves by Mayumi Fujio

We celebrate artists who have challenged, inspired, delighted and intrigued with their unique vision and skills—artists who tenaciously strive to be present and active in their communities.
The Bay Area is often romanticized as a region that inspires freedom, vision and inclusivity, however it’s always had its contradictions and challenges. A place in flux. Most recently, gentrification and COVID-19 restrictions have had a devastating effect on many creative spaces and artists. Over 18 shows meant to amplify Black voices (including this one) were canceled or postponed as we shuttered our galleries and museums to “ shelter-in-place.” Artists already struggling with exorbitant rent consider relocating to more forgiving regions. Nevertheless, we continue to make our own inventive varieties of “Good Trouble.” We find ways to support each other. We are resilient. ACCI Gallery recognizes how vital it is to give space, attention and yes, laudation to our artists who continue to make the Bay Area an engaging place to be. We will be scheduling individual artist receptions (to conform to COVID-19 safety guidelines) each Saturday in October, check back frequently to see our developing schedule! Haven't had a chance to see the show in person yet? Not to worry! We've extended it through August 22, 2020. Viewing parties up to four people will be admitted at a time to respect COVID-19 distancing guidelines. Face coverings are required at all times in the gallery.
We are celebrating the opening of our new show Waste Not Want Not: the Redemption of Trash. The gallery will be open for viewing the show and we will have some of the participating artists present to greet attendees and talk about their work. We will also be live streaming some artist interviews as well as a live tour of the show for those that are not comfortable coming out to see the show in person.
Due to the COVID-19 limitations on indoor events, we will be admitting 4 patrons at a time throughout the course of the day to view the exhibit. Meet one of the participating artists! Here's our schedule for the day:

Our workshop, Chain, Chain, Chain, Crochet with Mirto scheduled for Saturday, March 21st was cancelled. All upcoming events are postponed until further notice, including Waste Not Want Not: The Redemption of Trash and our Spring Garage Sale. As we continue to monitor developments and regularly assess this temporary closure; the health and safety of our members, staff and collectors is our highest priority. We will be sharing important updates via email and on our social media accounts. For more information about the latest COVID-19 guidelines, please visit the World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Alameda County Public Health Department and City of Berkeley Public Health websites.
