Community, Culture, Collaboration
These are ACCI Gallery’s core principles. We are committed to justice, equity, and full representation of our diverse Bay Area Community.
Black Lives Matter.
We unequivocally stand in solidarity with artists of color, LGBTQIA artists, underrepresented artists, and young emerging artists.
We honor this territory’s indigenous people, Chochenyo Ohlone, with whom we hope to establish a legitimate and trustworthy relationship through a mutually enriching exchange of art, ideas, and culture.
We see you, we stand with you, we honor you.
Art has roots in different cultures with branches extending into all walks of life. Art has the capacity and capability to connect us as one human race. Through art, we can appreciate the beauty and contribution of different cultures in the Bay Area. We aim to reflect this rich diversity in our member owned cooperative gallery.
As an organization invested in supporting the voices, work, and livelihoods of artists and artisans, we understand we must work together to create a dynamic, authentic community that values, uplifts, and supports everyone, with the aim of repairing inequities and expanding opportunities for underrepresented artists. In 2020 we created the Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) Committee to address these issues in our cooperative.
We are taking immediate steps toward meeting these goals by:
Moving forward we will:
We see ourselves as an integral part of the Bay Area arts community; we welcome the perspectives of our members, patrons, and the broader arts community on how to further develop these goals and ideas. Please send us your ideas, thoughts and feedback by emailing [email protected] (with the subject line IDEA Committee).

In 2020 we created the Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) Committee to address these issues in our cooperative.
We are taking immediate steps toward meeting these goals by:
- Continuing to support our membership through the IDEA committee actively pursuing diversity, equity and inclusion in our Cooperative;
- Seeking out artists from underrepresented populations and encouraging them to apply for membership to the gallery;
- Offering reduced fees on a per case basis to underrepresented artists wanting to apply;
- Regularly reserving exhibition slots to feature underrepresented artists in the gallery;
- Scheduling special events throughout the year for people of color and underrepresented artists to connect them to the larger arts community;
- Showcasing the work of underrepresented artists in our wider community (including public works) through our newsletter and social media.
Moving forward we will:
- Support ACCI artists in curating diverse exhibitions by seeking out underrepresented guest artists;
- Collaborate with other galleries and arts organizations that feature underrepresented artists;
- Encourage existing members to mentor and offer workshops for youth;
- Seek out and give priority to people from underrepresented communities when hiring staff members, selecting Committee Chairs, and electing Board members;
- Provide IDEA training to our Board Members, staff, and members;
- Take stock of who we are and who we hope to be, regularly revisiting this work and strategizing to achieve new goals.
