We celebrate artists who have challenged, inspired, delighted and intrigued with their unique vision and skills—artists who tenaciously strive to be present and active in their communities.
The Bay Area is often romanticized as a region that inspires freedom, vision and inclusivity, however it’s always had its contradictions and challenges. A place in flux. Most recently, gentrification and COVID-19 restrictions have had a devastating effect on many creative spaces and artists. Over 18 shows meant to amplify Black voices (including this one) were canceled or postponed as we shuttered our galleries and museums to “ shelter-in-place.” Artists already struggling with exorbitant rent consider relocating to more forgiving regions. Nevertheless, we continue to make our own inventive varieties of “Good Trouble.” We find ways to support each other. We are resilient. ACCI Gallery recognizes how vital it is to give space, attention and yes, laudation to our artists who continue to make the Bay Area an engaging place to be. We will be scheduling individual artist receptions (to conform to COVID-19 safety guidelines) each Saturday in October, check back frequently to see our developing schedule! Haven't had a chance to see the show in person yet? Not to worry! We've extended it through August 22, 2020. Viewing parties up to four people will be admitted at a time to respect COVID-19 distancing guidelines. Face coverings are required at all times in the gallery.
We are celebrating the opening of our new show Waste Not Want Not: the Redemption of Trash. The gallery will be open for viewing the show and we will have some of the participating artists present to greet attendees and talk about their work. We will also be live streaming some artist interviews as well as a live tour of the show for those that are not comfortable coming out to see the show in person.
Due to the COVID-19 limitations on indoor events, we will be admitting 4 patrons at a time throughout the course of the day to view the exhibit. Meet one of the participating artists! Here's our schedule for the day:

Spinning a yarn. Weaving strands of story together with fiber has its beginnings in mythology, ancient history and literature. There’s a tragic story from Ovid’s metamorphosis about two sisters. One, rendered unable to speak, weaves a garment for her sister in which she depicts her tragic tale. The perpetrator takes the garment to the other sister unaware that this is not just a piece of clothing but a message containing a story. Evil doings are discovered and justice is delivered. We invite you to enjoy this unique exhibition of fiber art: 23 pieces which are not only visually beautiful and technically sound, but carry on the tradition of narratives that are poignant and powerful. Opening Reception: Sat. March 7, 6-8pmGallery hours on Friday, February 14: 11am-6pm
