CALL FOR CERAMICS ART! Deadline 2/1/22
ACCI Gallery presents A Place at the Table: featuring individual table settings by regional ceramic artists, organized by ACCI Ceramic Artists, Kathy Kearns and Vince Montague and juried by Bay Area Artist and Writer, Maria Porges. This exhibition explores the concept of “place” and the artists’ visual connection between food and ceramics. A Place at the Table is a juried exhibition of place settings open to all Bay Area ceramic artists that will run concurrently with the March 2022 NCECA conference in Sacramento. A place setting consists of a minimum of two ceramic pieces and a maximum of six (for example, a plate, a bowl, a cup) not to exceed an 18” footprint. Tableware, both functional and non-functional, should express in any way the artist sees fit, not only the idea of “place” but also the artist’s visual connection between food and ceramics. The place setting can be intended for an informal environment (a picnic), a formal situation (a family dinner,) a culturally specific milieu, or a contemporary or futuristic version of a place setting. Keep in mind the idea of handmade ceramics connects and supports local movements that represent sustainable agriculture, urban gardening and social justice for food. Local agriculture served on beautiful local pottery underlines the value of a community that supports health and art for all people. The exhibition is generously supported by the Julia Terr Fund for Ceramic Arts under the auspices of the Community Foundation of Sonoma. The Julia Terr Fund will underwrite the cost of the entry fee for all participants (one entry per person) and provide three cash awards to the best place-settings in the exhibition of $300, $200 and $100. This support will allow access to those artists who are working locally and want to show their work during the the NCECA 2022 conference. We encourage all artists to apply, from students to professionals, especially those artists who are underrepresented and who identify as such. https://www.accigallery.com/call4art-place-at-the-table.html Don't miss our current exhibition: "In the Presence of Pomegranates" now through September 269/15/2021
