Paula RossCeramics
Paula Ross is a potter in the East Bay, Ca. She has her own studio, that is open every month. She sells pottery in galleries in Oakland and Berkeley. Her work is featured in Lark Crafts Books, Vases and Teapots. Her mugs are shown in the film, The Joy Luck Club, by Wayne Wang. A large painted platter is in the art collection of Sandy Besser, Santa Fe New Mexico.
She began her studies in New York and London. And has a MFA in ceramics from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. Her work is now fired in an electric kiln at cone 04. It's red earthenware with layers of slips and terra sigillata. She mainly makes functional pieces, but also does non-functional forms. Working with low-fired clay has made it possible to be more spontaneous and free. |
