Mirto Golino
Sculpture | Mixed Media
I began as a painter, receiving a BFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art.
When I taught art to children, the need for creating sculpture lessons forced me to explore 3-D processes. I began to have the urge to work in a 3-D manner in my own art practice. Sticks and found objects inspired me. Many pieces took a shrine-like form. I have always been attracted to portraits and the human form so eventually my work became more figurative, manifesting as playful "folk art" figures. Currently the love of color and paint has drawn me back into painting--but I am trying to meld 3D elements as well. :: Artist Website ::
