I vividly remember, the very first drawing I ever made. I was watching cartoons, and I drew the roadrunner from the television with crayons on newsprint paper. I was three years old. From this moment on, I have been obsessed with making art everyday.
I have had basic art classes in school, but I feel like my real learning on the subject was from daily practice on my own. I’ve gone through many art phases searching for my style. I’ve explored abstract expressionism, and surreal dreamscapes, until ultimately in 2015, began to focus on photorealistic paintings of local buildings and urban landscapes. I began painting places like restaurants, music venues, and hotels especially when they are unique, charming or have been abandoned and are covered in age. I have become completely dedicated to painting everyday even though I work 40 hours a week at my warehouse job, I am typically up at 4am to paint in my studio till I have to go to work. My process for making one of my paintings is by starting with a photo. I draw the image on the canvas in pencil, then I paint with Golden Fluid acrylic paint. Depending on the amount of detail, my paintings take anywhere from 40 to 180 hours to complete. |
