Metal clay is powdered metal mixed with a binder. When mixed with water it becomes clay, and can be worked like ceramic clay. When dry, it is fired in a kiln and becomes an object of pure metal. Before the advent of metal clay I worked in metal fabrication. I started working in metal clay around the time that silver clay emerged in the US market. I worked several ears with silver clay, and then, because of my passion for mixed metal, started to make my own copper, bronze, and steel clay. It became a brand - "Hadar's Clay" - and is sold today in the metal clay community and beyond. I have been teaching metal clay since year 2000, and have published six books about it. My books reflect interests and techniques I have been engaged with over the years: textures, hollow forms, movement and mechanisms, mixed metal, mokume-gane and architectural jewelry.
