Water dissolving rock, rain filling oceans, earthquakes forming mountains: the never-ending cycle. We go about our daily life atop a boiling interior of molten lava as if it were a stable surface on which we search for a parking space. These masks and sculptures are symbols of these hidden forces so near to us yet so often dimly perceptible in our waking lives: Mt. Diablo, The Sacramento River, the Pacific Ocean, and all the vast geological setting in which we live. Clay is the resulting sediment ground down into the finest particles from which we create our art.
