The ACCI Gallery
(Arts and Crafts Cooperative, Inc) will host their first National Juried
Fine Craft Exhibition July 13 - August 18, 2007. Invitational
jurors, Virginia Breier, a 30-year SF fine craft gallery owner veteran,
and Carole Beadle, a professor from the California College of Art’s
Textile dept for over 30 years, selected 65 works from entries submitted
throughout the US. The exhibition will feature a broad selection of works
ranging from jewelry and ceramics to furniture and musical instruments. The opening reception for the show will feature local musical guests, The Paul and Sheila Smith Quintet. Paul is the bass player for the legendary Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks. Sheila, a singer and percussionist, recorded with Stevie Wonder on his "Talking Book" album and his Grammy award-winning "Innervisions" album. In 2004, singer Maria Muldaur recorded Sheila's song, "Every Day's a New Day" on her newly-released C.D. entitled "Love Wants to Dance". Paul and Sheila have been together making music for over 30 years, since first meeting in Hollywood in 1970 where they were both members of the Moacir Santos group. Moacir is known to Brazilians as the Brazilian Ellington. Sheila was the singer on Moacir's first U.S. release entitled “Maestro". While in Los Angeles, Paul joined the Willie Bobo Latin jazz group. |
